Belated Thank You!!

Want to give a belated thanks to Arni Anderson for including the Bonds at a Redhawks outing. Arni acquired a suite for the evening and the Bonds, Gayles, Andersons (multiple groups), Debbie & Bill all attended the festivities. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was the drunk in the suite next to us. Thanks to York International for bringing this guy to the park.

Not Much Happening

these days with the Bond gang. Sheridan's arm is healing well. She gets a shorter cast on the 19th. Paige is still playing some ball. Terry has been touring West Virginia, Pennyslvania, Ohio and Michigan for work this week. I have just been hanging out.

Sure wish it would rain.

What is with my kids and the medical community!?!?!?!

Well, it finally quit raining for a few hours so the Del City ballpark opened up for a fundraiser tournament this weekend. YEAH!!! We are back outside!!! Smiles all around at the Bond house. The girls and I head for the ballpark for our first game. Talk to Terry on the phone since he is on the way back from a "work related" fishing trip to Louisiana (more about that later with hopefully some pics).

So here we go!!!

Arrive at ballpark, still smiling...
Get our schedule (1 game for Paige's team, 4 games for Paige and Sheridan with Sheridan's team), still smiling..
Warm-up for the game, still smiling..
Go down 1-2-3 in top of 1st inning, still smiling still lots of game time..
Get 2 quick outs on the other team and walk their 3rd batter, still smiling no big deal..
4th batter hits a blooper that is dropping in front of 2nd base, Sheridan is charging for the catch, glove catches ground, Sheridan drops to ground and declares "I broke my wrist", NOT SMILING anymore.

Yes, not 10 minutes into the first game of the day, my darling daughter hurts her wrist. Big question is break vs. sprain. Know what I am voting for but think we might need medical assistance. So I call Mimi to come get her from the park, clean her up and put on a brace until I can get arrangements made for Paige. Get Paige squared away and head to ER with Sheridan. In the meantime, I call our friend and orthopedic surgeon Mike Williams. He says get an x-ray and if we have a fracture, come out to his house with films and we will see what needs to be done.

So, since it has been 45 days since our last major medical incident, it seems perfectly natural for me to be driving up to Midwest Regional's ER at 2:00 on a Sunday afternoon, when the sun is shining for the first time in weeks, the ballpark is open, and both my girls are supposed to be playing on the same team. Where else would I be!!!!

Long story short, wrist is broken (of course it is, we are the Bonds). So after Paige is finished with ball, we head out to the Williams. Mike says she needs surgery and he already has it booked for tomorrow (Monday, July 2). Man it is great to have friends in the medical community.

Surgery went well. No pins required!! She is resting with Mimi today and according to Mike should be good to go as a pinch runner in California at the end of the month.

Catching Up - Part 2

Ok, not so prompt on my part but here it goes. The girls continue to play ball. We have been pretty busy with tournaments on the weekends and league games during the week when the RAIN will cooperate. I will try to update you on both teams.....

Paige's team is doing really well. Here is a picture of her playing 3rd base. She does a great job especially considering she is left handed which can make playing the infield quite challenging.

The last time they really got to play much together, they went 4-0 and were in the finals of a tournament in Del City. But, you guessed it, the rains came just before they started and the finals were postponed.

I think her team has had 1 tournament completely rained out in addition to the finals that were postponed. They also had their last 5 league games called for rain.

Lately, she has been playing with Sheridan's team quite a bit as well and doing an awesome job.

Now for Sheridan and her softball exploits. Sheridan has been playing for our older team TNT Black some of the time. She is primarily a pinch/courtesy runner since she has amazing speed. She was 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts at a tournament at the Softball Hall of Fame. The team won 1st place and qualified for nationals in Sacramento in late July. Sounds like a great place for a Bond family vacation. She also played with them in Lawton last weekend before the finals of that tourament was called due to a rain that can only be described as being one of Biblical Proportions. Her regular team also lost 5 league games due to the rains. Here is a picture of her running for the Blacks at the Hall of Fame.


Other than ball, the girls are just hanging out and enjoying summer. Maegan Bouye is their sitter for the first half of the summer and Lauren Hammonds will take over when she returns from Brazil around the 15th of July.

Catching Up - Part 1

In order to catch you up with our exciting life, let's start with one of my favorite topics, Paige and Sheridan. They just completed 5th grade at OCA and are headed to middle school!!! I can't believe they will be 12 years old in August. Time really is flying by. They did great in school again and both are on the Superintendent's Honor Roll. Instead of a 5th grade graduation, OCA hosts an "Academy Awards" show where all the kids dress up and walk the red carpet. Numerous awards are handed out from the silly such as "Ability to Keep the Sharpest Pencil" to the more serious "Most Likely to Lend a Helping Hand".

Sheridan accepted the award for "Person with the Sharpest Pencil". Guess that explains the callous on her hand.

The 5th grade also attended the Ropes Course in Edmond. Both girls reported that they completed the course though Paige did admit that her fear of heights was tested. She was also quite proud that all the girls in her class were successful in the course but the boys were not so inclined.

Now, on to middle school.......................HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally back in the mood

I am finally back in the mood to post. Yes, I realize it has been 2 months but I need partial forgiveness for that. I could have been a bit more diligent in April but for some reason I wasn't. Guess I was waiting for excitement and boy did I get it, but not a good way.

On April 27th, Paige got really sick with her allergies and asthma and wound up in Mercy Hospital. I took the night shift and Daddy and Mimi took the day shift. On Saturday, the 28th, I went to Chickasha with Sheridan for softball while Mimi stayed with Paige and Daddy caught up on some work. That night, I stopped by my folks house in Del City for a quick shower on my way back to Mercy. Spent a few minutes with the folks and headed out for the night shift with Paige. Paige was having a great night health-wise. About 5:30am, Terry called to tell me that my mom had taken my dad to Midwest Regional Hospital and he was on his way to Mercy so I could leave. Thankfully, Paige was discharged at noon that day.

As for my dad, he was VERY ill with pneumonia and O2 poisoning from the pneumonia. He spent the next 3 weeks in a very touch and go situation but finally beat the odds and made it home on Friday May 18th. THANK GOD for his healing hand since the doctors can't explain his survival.

In the meantime, Sheridan got very ill with asthma on Monday, May 7th and wound up in Mercy for 3 days as well. This time, due to Terry's work schedule, I took both days and nights for the most part. He was great to come and relieve me when he could so I could shower and work some as well as visit my dad. The 2nd night of her stay was one of his very close calls but again, God was taking care of us by allowing us to all be where we needed to be. Thanks to the Bentley and Lowry families for housing Paige during our adventures and to The Jayne and Gayle families for being shoulders to lean and occasionally cry on. Also, thanks to everyone for their calls and prayers during this time.

So, all is well that ends well and for us the month of May ended WELL!!! But in the meantime, I really didn't feel like writing. Guess it is just not an emotional outlet for me when I am stressed so to my 1 or 2 loyal readers, SORRY but thanks for hanging in there. By the way, are you even still out there?!?!?!

The Little Mermaid

Last week at OCA, a traveling theatre group from Missoula Children's Theatre was in town to put on a performance of "The Little Mermaid". MCT is really an amazing group. They have 2 traveling directors that show up at your school on Monday afternoon to have auditions. They immediately audition and cast the show (approximately 60 cast members) and the larger roles start rehearsal 20 minutes after the auditions are over. Over the next for days, they have a total of 14 hours of rehearsal with the students. On Friday, they have a dress rehearsal after school and their first show is Friday at 7:00pm and a second show is done on Saturday afternoon.

This past week at OCA, Paige was cast as one of the mermaids, Delia. The other girl in the picture is Maryn Kingsley who is a friend of Paige's and one of the other mermaids. It is truly amazing what these kids can accomplish in 4 days. Paige was beautiful and awesome in her role. The singing and harmony of the 4 girls that were mermaids was beautiful.

Paige really loves singing and being in shows like this. She is a very talented young lady and we are so proud of her.

For those of you wondering, "Where is Sheridan"? Well, musical theatre is not exactly her thing so she was in the audience cheering on her sister and friends and taking pictures.

Alright Already

Is 25 days between blogs REALLY that long? OK, maybe it is but I have been suffering from blog-envy. Until today, I did not have any pictures to post and I did not know how to post but......not anymore!!! So here we go with an update.

Since our last discussion, the Bond's have been busy, of course. The highlight was our occasionally annual ski trip to Wolf Creek Colorado with the Gayles. We really enjoy spending time with Matt, Robin, Easton and Mason. Having others to travel with sure helps pass the time and make for some great memories. We had a blast as you can see from the picture. (Don't look too closely, it might be our Christmas card this year!). We spent 2 days skiing in great spring conditions. Paige and I hung out a lot with Matt and Mason on the easier slopes while Terry and his fearless gang (Sheridan and Easton) tackled the more difficult slopes. Where was Robin you might be wondering? She was safely at Base Camp utilizing her people watching skills and keeping us informed on the "What to See" list when we dropped by and there was PLENTY to see on some stops. ***A special THANK YOU to the Gerken's for the use of the house in Southfork again. It is AWESOME!!! We sure hated to have to come home but some of us had to get back to work so we could pay for this adventure.

Other than skiing, we are kept busy by softball this time of year. Both of the girls' teams are doing well and they both seem to be enjoying playing ball. Just wish it would quit raining so much. Rain is good but in smaller doses so as to not flood the fields and cancel our tournaments.

That's about it for now. Now that I am more technologically empowered, I promise more regular updates. (Maybe I can get Robin to show me how to use some of the other neat features and totally shock you all on your next visit.)

Weekend Rewind

Typical fast paced weekend for the Bond's. Both girls softball teams played in a tournament in Del City this weekend. Sheridan's team kicked it off Friday night with a game in the cold. Forgot my jacket so it was especially cold to me!!! (Note to self: DON'T do that again). Saturday, Paige's team got into the action. We played a total of 4 games on Saturday and it was WINDY AND COLD!!! The girls did a great job. Paige hit the ball well and played great defense. Her team went 1-1 on the day. Sheridan had a good day as well. Her team finished 2-0 for the day. Sheridan and I missed Paige's last game as we hurried off to Yukon for a basketball game. They played really well but came up short against a 6th grade team. Sunday was more softball. Paige's team fell short in a great rally and lost 9-8 to a team from Tulsa. they finished tied for 5th. Paige played well again and did a great job on the bases creating some havoc and stealing 5 bases. Don't think she had a ball hit her way today. But she is doing a great job at 3rd base for her team. Sheridan's team finished 2nd in the tournament. She did a great job at the plate executing 2 bunt plays. Her defense was great as well. All and all a good but hectic weekend for the Bond girls and their parents.

We finally made it to the web!!! Paige and I started the blog today and hopefully we will be able to keep it up-to-date with the thrilling highlights of the happening at the Bond's. More to follow soon.
